Fish decoys by Dr Lester Johnson are extremely rare and highly prized. Very few
examples are known to exist. This decoy dates to the late 1930s or early 40s. It is
5 1/4" long and intricately painted in a beautifully patinated combination of colors.
It is completely original with normal light wear and paint loss to the metal fins. This
exact decoy is pictured in the reference book FOLK ART FISH DECOYS on page
129 as being made by an unknown maker.The decoy has been confirmed as an
early work by Dr Johnson and is an incredible work of art with excellent rarity and
visual appeal.
